Boulder Wave’s founder and president Brendan Reilly will give a special BolderBOULDER 10K coaching session this coming weekend for members of Team KBCO, the running group brought together by Colorado’s world-class rock station, KBCO. KBCO is a long-time sponsor of BolderBOULDER, and each year invites its listeners to run with Team KBCO at the BolderBOULDER and other events.
Reilly will be available on May 9th to help the team’s runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels and fitness…including any John “Bluto” Blutarsky types… with their technique and offer tips on how to get the most out of their BolderBOULDER run. Join Team KBCO today to take part in this very special coaching session!
The session will take place at the East Boulder Community Center (5660 Sioux Drive, Boulder CO 80303), Saturday May 9th at 10:00 am. KBCO will have one of their decorated vans on hand. The event will include a short talk about Boulder’s world-class running community, a question- and-answer session, and a training run (or walk) for any Team KBCO members who would like to participate. Brendan will remain on hand after the run to answer any and all questions.
Since 1993, Boulder Wave has helped over 2,500 athletes with their training, mainly at altitude, and for the past seven years has put together the altitude training section of Asics “Road to New York City Marathon” promotion for runners preparing for the ING New York City Marathon. In the past four Olympic games, athletes whose training Boulder Wave has assisted or represented have won bronze-gold-gold-gold medals in the women’s marathon.
“Team KBCO is more about the fun part of the Bolder Boulder. Some of the runners will be after a fast time, while others are just there to enjoy themselves, enjoy the great tunes playing on KBCO, and get in an hour or so of outdoors fun on a Spring morning,” says Reilly. “I’ve been hooked on KBCO since my first summer here back in 1993, when former marathon world recordholder Steve Jones introduced me to the station. I’m looking forward to meeting everybody on Saturday, and we’ll see what we can do to help both the most active and the most sedentary folks get through the race with a smile.”
At the race itself on Memorial Day in Boulder, Reilly will also run with the special Team KBCO wave starting at 8:17 a.m., and Vali Tomescu, who coached Constantina Dita to her marathon gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games last summer, will be on hand to give everybody on Team KBCO last-minute pointers and get them pumped for the big run.
Team KBCO members will also receive a free copy of the BolderBOULDER Bootlegs Vol. 6 music CD, and a free Team KBCO t-shirt.
