Sara Vaughn Nails 800m PB at Portland Track Festival

Catching up now on all of last weekend’s racing… Out in Oregon, Sara Vaughn (adidas) drove 20 minutes from her new home in Beaverton to run the 800m at Saturday’s Portland Track Festival, and came home with a beautiful new PB of 2:03.70. After missing the 2010 outdoor season on maternity leave, Sara has been stepping up nicely this year, with PB’s in two of her three track races so far this year (she also ran 4:20.52 for 4th place at the Millrose Games 1500m indoors this winter).

While the new mark easily qualifies Sara for the 800m at next weekend’s US national championships, she feels ready to pop a strong 1500m, and will run another local meet this weekend looking to get at least the 4:15.50 “A” qualifier (the “B” is 4:17.50).

Runner Space provides a good video of Saturday’s 800m. Sara starts in lane two, and is in the green top/black short adidas uniform. http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?do=videos&year=2011&event_id=139&folder_id=2118#video
